TYSL Travel Program
The Tewksbury Youth Soccer League (TYSL) Travel Teams participate in the Middlesex Youth Soccer League (MYSL). Each team will play games both at the TYSL Home Fields located at the Frasca Soccer Complex and away games at surrounding towns with soccer programs that are also members of the MYSL. MYSL is made up of teams from 19 towns and cities within Middlesex County. Games can be as far away as Everett or Charlestown and as close as Wilmington or Lowell. There are two soccer seasons that comprise a "soccer year"; a fall season (August-November) followed by a spring season (March-June). The fall season generally consists of 9 games and there are no playoffs at the end of the season as it is considered a developmental season. The spring season is considered a competitive season. It consists of 10 games and MYSL-sponsored playoffs/post-season tournaments for the top teams. The top teams in each division (12U and up) may also qualify for the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC). MTOC is otherwise known as the state tournament competition which is a playoff between the affiliate leagues representative champions on a state-wide basis.

Player Placement Process
Tryouts are usually held in June for the fall teams and October/November for the spring teams. Times and dates are posted on the TYSL web-site and broadcast through local and social media. Generally two dates are selected and all players must attend at least one tryout to be considered. If you are unable to attend tryouts due to a medical problem and still want to be considered for a team, you must notify the Travel Program Director and provide a note from a doctor stating that you cannot participate prior to the last tryout. In order to be eligible to attend tryouts a player must be registered and all registration and (if applicable) late fees must be paid prior to the tryout date. Onsite day-of-tryout registration is, typically, not offered. Selection for the fall team does not guarantee placement on the same spring team. Tryouts are competitive and there are a limited number of roster spots. If you are selected for a team, you will receive a call from the coach. If you are not selected for a team, you will be contacted by a league representative.
Games and Practices
Travel teams practice twice a week and play their games on Saturdays or Sundays. Usually, half the games are played at home and half away. In addition, the team may elect to play in a tournament, usually in the fall on Columbus Day and in the spring on Memorial Day weekend or after the conclusion of either season. Practice times, dates and days of the week are not guaranteed and can fluctuate depending upon season, weather, field availalability, clinic schedules and coach availability.
