Rule Differences Between U8, U10, U13, U16
This document summarizes the differences from the full FIFA Laws of Soccer used by the various divisions of the in town recreation league programs. It only shows how the rules of the competition do not exactly follow the normal rules
U8 Rules:
- 6v6 (small sided) format
- 4 player minimum (including goalkeeper)
- Ball size - 3
- 20 minute halves
- 5 Minute Substitution periods
- 6 Yards for free kicks/corner kicks
- No attacking free kicks inside penalty Area
- No Penalty Kicks
- No Goal kicks past midfield
- No Goalie Distributions Past Midfield
- No Offside
- No Slide Tackles
U10 Rules:
- 6v6 (small sided) format
- 4 player minimum (including goalkeeper)
- Ball size - 4
- 25 minute halves
- 6 Yards for free kicks/corner kicks
- Unlimited Substitution on own throw in, any goal kick, after goal, and start of half
- No attacking free kicks inside penalty Area
- No Penalty Kicks
- Goal kicks past midfield
- Goalie Distributions Past Midfield
- No Offside
- No Slide Tackles
U13 Rules:

- 5 player minimum (including goalkeeper)
- Ball size - 4
- 35 minute halves
- Unlimited Substitution on own throw in, any goal kick, after goal, and start of half
- 8 Yards for free kicks /corner kicks
- No Slide Tackles
U16 Rules:
- 35 Minute Halves
- Unlimited Substitution on own throw in, any goal kick, after goal, and start of half
- No Slide Tackles
