As you may know, a ‘Building/Bathroom Project’ was initiated in the fall of 2006 to explore options for providing permanent bathrooms at the Frasca Fields on North Street.
The main objective of this project is to provide permanent bathrooms located on the lower field or centrally located between the upper and the lower field. In addition to the bathrooms, the newly erected structure could potentially house a meeting room and an additional snack shack if placed in a central location.
We have encountered many stumbling blocks along the way. Each deviation required going back to the drawing board and re-evaluating the project, both for its feasibility and financial impact to the league.
The base cost of the options we considered ranges from $57,000 to $79,000. This does not take into account the potential for donated materials or a contingency plan if we encounter an issue during construction. It also does not take into account ongoing maintenance of the new facility.
At this time, we do not have sufficient funds to initiate the project. TYSL has approximately $25,000 available which includes $12,000 already raised during previous events related specifically to the construction of the bathrooms. If the league was to invest a majority of the available funds into the project, this would leave the league with no emergency funds.
The Board agreed that building bathrooms is a worthwhile endeavor and we are committed to pursuing the construction of bathrooms. In order to prepare the League to successfully undertake this project, we have created a separate bathroom account and a goal to raise $75,000 for this effort.
I encourage each of you to go to our website and review the bathroom options presented there. If you have any questions or concerns please let one of the board members know by e-mailing your comments.
